The Alfa Romeo MiTo was in the news earlier this year when the Italian manufacturer announced its sales figures for 2011, figures which bucked the trend a remarkable increase in its share of the UK car market of 30.8%.  This is against the backdrop of an average market share drop of 4.4%, and Alfa Romeo credited its strong performance in no small part to the MiTo, along with its stablemate the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, with both models benefit from award winning MultiAir engine technology and five star Euro-NCAP safety ratings.

“To record such an impressive market share increase in a shrinking auto market is testament to the Alfa Romeo brand that is now available in the UK. We have two leading products on offer, and have been able to win back customers who may have shied away from the brand in the past.” said Damian Dally, Head of Brand for Alfa Romeo UK, “Both Giulietta and MiTo are available on competitive low finance rates, along with a free inclusive Alfa care package which includes three years complimentary servicing, however it's not only the product that needs to be right. That's why we've worked tirelessly to improve our dealer network - which now has a top 10 J.D. Power placing.”

The Alfa Romeo MiTo set a bizarre world record in December 2011 to celebrate the launch of the 170 bhp MultiAir-engined Quadrifoglio Verde model.  Driven by professional stunt driver Terry Grant, an example of the model was used to smash through and Alfa Romeo badge constructed by water balloons, bursting a record 2,738 in the process.  Only four balloons survived the stunt, which were then used to determine the lucky winners of an exclusive track day at the Goodwood racing circuit for fans of the Alfa Romeo UK Facebook page.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde replaced the Cloverleaf model, and debuted in July 2011 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.  For the new model Alfa Romeo treated the exterior to a new wider front valance to give a sportier look, as well as Quadrifoglio Verde badges in micro-brushed aluminium and 18-inch alloy wheels.  The interior trim in the Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde was revealed to include sport seats, a central column in finished in suede, and a sporty black interior with two-tone green and white seams on the seats, steering wheel, hand brake lever and gear knob. The fuel efficient Mito would be perfect to drive to your caravan in.
